Do not count the candles but notice the light they give. Do not count the years; look at the life you live.

Yesterday was my birthday. I’ve now lived 56 years in human form. How is 56 supposed to act and feel? I’m not sure if there is some protocol that I am expected to follow now that I’m over 55 and on my way to 60? The reason I bring this up is that we all look for markers along the way to reassure us that we are on the right track, to what I don’t know, and that we fit into the “norm.” I say, let’s throw out the rulebook! Let’s make new rules that feel loving for us.

Each one of us has the right to make choices about what we want based on what feels most authentic if we are willing to listen to our wise, inner voice of guidance. The difficulty is when we look to what society, friends, and family believe are normal and best for us. Would you consider you know what’s true for you by asking yourself if something feels light or heavy? Light is a truth, heavy is not truth for you, yet may be a truth for someone else.

Today I invite you to choose to celebrate your beautiful, unique self by doing something that evokes a feeling of lightness and love. Then repeat, tomorrow, the day after that and the day after that until it becomes a habit.

That’s my commitment to myself as I embrace another year of life on this earth plane while staying open to the infinite possibilities of celebration and living life to the fullest. My past has been rich in learning and experiences. After completing Ministry school, I embarked on my HeartMath Trainer certification. Traveled, had a ton of fun, sold my home of 16 years simplifying my life, and took some risks to shake up unsatisfactory dynamics and patterns that continue repeating themselves.
